With Amazon opening its platform to advertisers in a massive way, we sift through the WSJ article and discuss as thought leaders (!) how old world common sense like selling physical things, not only makes sense but is just what Amazon is doing. Why isn’t anyone else? It’s odd when you sit and think about it – where other sites are specifically after selling our data, Amazon’s busy selling us actual stuff whether you’re online or not. Looks like we’d better warm up to our new overlords. And Linux squeezes in a tiny appearance in today’s episode.

Lieutenant, is there a six-foot bat in Gotham City? These days we could use both the reporter who posed the famous question in the 1989 film and the Batman. 2016 saw thousands stirred to civic duty; the resulting two years have stirred still more people to dig deep for truth as emotions become opinions and opinions become ideological foundations and ideologies become campaigns. The truth might seed a return to civility; civility does not benefit today’s campaigns and faces a deadly resistance.

Bad vibes sell. There are articles, studies and today, a full-color full page ad to prove it. Long thought to be the most (insert your opinion here) newscast, FOX gets us rolling with a reminder of their sales superiority. It’s not that FOX makes us an unhappy opinionated public, I’m pretty sure that like some art, the news is working hard to market ‘the hate you sell’ (almost the title of this episode) back to us through newscasters, opinion pieces and tone.
