With Amazon opening its platform to advertisers in a massive way, we sift through the WSJ article and discuss as thought leaders (!) how old world common sense like selling physical things, not only makes sense but is just what Amazon is doing. Why isn’t anyone else? It’s odd when you sit and think about it – where other sites are specifically after selling our data, Amazon’s busy selling us actual stuff whether you’re online or not. Looks like we’d better warm up to our new overlords. And Linux squeezes in a tiny appearance in today’s episode.

Bad vibes sell. There are articles, studies and today, a full-color full page ad to prove it. Long thought to be the most (insert your opinion here) newscast, FOX gets us rolling with a reminder of their sales superiority. It’s not that FOX makes us an unhappy opinionated public, I’m pretty sure that like some art, the news is working hard to market ‘the hate you sell’ (almost the title of this episode) back to us through newscasters, opinion pieces and tone. It only fails if we cheer up, and here’s a way to cheer up…

Righteous motivations steer massive entities to the strangest ends! A quick visit to add on to episode 34’s net neutrality with some new information that came in last night and a longer look at Google’s funny actions. The DOJ and Google both work to appeal to the base consumer but in different ways. Their individual and different-pointing tacks both find an appeal to the masses as the way to go with furthering knowledge of their quests. Google’s march on such grassroots like behavior strikes me as an oddity I can’t shake.
